Spoleto,
an unforgettable experience
Umbria, renowned as the “green heart of Italy”, grows more popular with travellers every year. It is the authentic Italian experience: rolling countryside, charming historic towns and villages, wonderful food and a vibrant cultural life. Among its gems is Spoleto, about 69 km (43 miles) from Perugia, waiting to be explored.

A centre of
art and culture
Spoleto is an artistic and cultural centre, for its Roman and medieval history and architecture and for its world-famous summer Festival of the Two Worlds. Built along the Via Flaminia, one of the great Roman roads, it is easy to reach by train or car from Rome or Perugia. The Roman theatre, the Romanesque Duomo and the papal fortress all draw visitors; beneath the fortress the medieval aqueduct spans a narrow gorge. In the Duomo, the Renaissance painter Fra Filippo Lippi left one of his masterpieces.

Festival dei Due Mondi
Since 1958 Spoleto has hosted the Festival of the Two Worlds, a prestigious event that showcases music, theatre and art from different cultures. Its stage is the town itself — the mosaic façade of the Duomo and the Roman and medieval buildings of Spoleto.
