Since 1958 Spoleto has hosted the Festival of the Two Worlds, one of Europe's most prestigious cultural events: music, opera, theatre, dance and art from different cultures.
Its stage is the town itself. The Duomo's mosaic façade is the backdrop for the great concerts in the piazza, while the Roman theatre, the historic theatres and the medieval palazzi host performances for several weeks every summer.
